Gathering of general information

When you access our website, information of a general nature is gathered automatically. This data (server logfiles) includes, for example, the type of web browser, the operating system used, the domain name of your internet service provider and similar. This is exclusively data that does not permit any conclusion as to your identity. This data is required for technical reasons in order to deliver the requested contents of websites correctly and is always generated whenever the internet is used. Anonymous data of this kind is analysed statistically by us to optimise our internet appearance and the technology behind it.

Cookies

Like many other websites, we also use so-called “cookies”. Cookies are small files that are transmitted from a website server to your hard drive. We receive certain data, e.g. IP address, browser used, operating system, from them automatically from your computer and your internet connection.

Cookies cannot be used to start programs or transmit viruses to a computer. By means of the information contained in the cookies, we can make navigation easier for you and enable the correct display of our websites.

The data gathered by us is never disseminated to third parties nor is it linked to your personal data without your consent.

Of course, you can generally also view our website without cookies. Internet browsers are normally configured to accept cookies. You can deactivate the use of cookies at any time via your browser settings. Please use the help feature of your web browser to find out how you can change these settings. Please notice that individual features of our website might not function when you have deactivated the use of cookies.

SSL encryption

To protect the security of your data in the transmission, we use an encryption protocol according to the current state of technology (e.g. SSL) via HTTPS.

Comment feature

In addition to the data contained in comments when users leave comments in the blog, the time when these were created and the user name previously chosen by the website visitor will also be stored. This serves for our protection, as we can be prosecuted for illegal contents on our website even if these have been created by users.

Contact form

If you contact us by email or by means of the contact form, the information provided by you will be stored for the purposes of processing your enquiry and for potential follow-up questions.

Deletion or blocking data

We adhere to the principles of data avoidance and data economy. We therefore store your personal data only for as long, as this is required to reach the purposes specified herein or as prescribed according to the various storage periods that are mandated by law. When the respective purpose no longer applies or these periods have lapsed, the corresponding data will be routinely blocked or deleted in accordance with legal regulations.

Use of Google Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service of Google Inc. (hereinafter: Google). Google Analytics uses so-called “cookies”, meaning text files that are stored on your computer and that enable an analysis of the website use by you. The information generated by the cookie about your utilisation of this website is generally transmitted to and saved on a server of Google in the USA. By activation of the IP anonymisation on this website, your IP address however will be truncated beforehand within Member States of the European Union or in other signatory states of the Treaty on the European Economic Zone. The complete IP address will only be transmitted in exceptional cases to a server of Google in the USA and it will be truncated there. By order of the operator of this Website, Google will use this information in order to analyse your utilisation of the website, compile reports about website activities, and perform additional services for the website operator, which relate to the website utilisation and internet use. The IP address transmitted from your browser in the context of Google Analytics will not be combined with other data of Google.

You can prevent the storing of the cookies by a corresponding setting of your browser software; however, we point out that you might not be able to use all functions of this website to full extent in that case. In addition, you may prevent the gathering of the data generated by the cookie relating to your utilisation of the website (incl. your IP address) to be transmitted to Google, as well as the processing of these data by Google by downloading and installing the browser plug-in available at the following link: Browser add-on to deactivate Google Analytics.

You can find more information on the handling of user data at Google Analytics in Google’s Data Privacy Policy.

Use of Piwik

This website uses Piwik, an open-source software for the statistical analysis of user accesses. Piwik uses so-called “cookies”, text files that are stored on your computer and that enable an analysis of the website use by you.

The information generated by the cookie about your use of the internet offer is stored on a server in Germany.

The IP address is anonymised directly upon the processing and before storing. You have the option to prevent the installation of cookies by changing the settings of your browser software. We inform that when making a corresponding adjustment to the settings, it can be possible that you no longer have all features of this website available.

You can decide if a unique web analysis cookie may be stored in your browser to enable the website operator to gather and analyse a variety of statistical data.

Use of script libraries (Google Webfonts)

To display our contents correctly and in a graphically appealing way in all browsers, we use script libraries and font libraries such as Google Webfonts (https://www.google.com/webfonts/) on this website. Google Webfonts are transmitted to the cache of your browser to avoid multiple loading. If the browser does not support Google Webfonts or prevents access, contents will be displayed in a standard font.

The retrieval of script libraries or font libraries automatically triggers a connection to the library operator. It is theoretically possible that in the process – while it is currently unclear whether and, if so, for what purposes – the operator of the corresponding libraries gathers data.

You can find the Data Privacy Policy of the library operator Google here: https://www.google.com/policies/privacy/

Use of Google Maps

This website uses Google Maps API to visually display geographic information. In the use of Google Maps, Google also gathers, processes and uses data about the use of the map features by visitors. You can find more information on the use of data by Google in the Google Data Privacy Statement. In the data privacy centre there, you can also modify your personal data privacy settings.

Detailed instructions on the management of your own data in connection with Google products can be found there.

Embedded YouTube videos

On some of our websites, we embed YouTube videos. Operator of the corresponding plug-ins is YouTube, LLC, 901 Cherry Ave., San Bruno, CA 94066, USA. When you visit a page with the YouTube plug-in, a connection to servers of YouTube will be established. In the process, YouTube will be told which pages you are visiting. If you are logged in to your YouTube account, YouTube can attribute your browsing pattern to you personally. You can prevent this by logging out of your YouTube account.

If a YouTube video is started, the provider uses cookies that gather information on the user behaviour.

Anyone who has deactivated the storing of cookies for the Google Ad program does not have to expect such cookies when viewing YouTube videos. YouTube, however, also stores impersonal usage information in other cookies. If you would like to prevent this, you have to block the storing of cookies in your browser.

You can find more information about data privacy at “YouTube” in the provider’s data privacy policy at: https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=en&gl=de

Social plug-ins

Our websites use social plug-ins of the providers listed below. You can recognise the plug-ins by the relevant logo that designates them.

Through these plug-ins, information, which can also include personal data, is sent to the service provider under certain circumstances, who can use it if applicable. We prevent the unknown and unintentional gathering and transmission of data to the service provider by means of a 2-click solution. To activate a desired social plug-in, it must first be activated by a click on the relevant button. The gathering of information and its transmission to the service provider is triggered only by activation of the plug-in. We ourselves do not gather any personal data by means of the social plug-ins or through its use.

We have no influence over which data is gathered by an activated plug-in and how it is used by the provider. It must be assumed at this time that a direct connection to the services of the provider will be established and that at least the IP address and device-specific information is gathered and used. Likewise, there is the possibility that the service providers attempt to store cookies on the computer that is being used. Please find out from the data privacy policies of the respective service provider which data specifically is gathered in the process and how it is used. Note: If you are simultaneously signed in to Facebook, Facebook can identify you as a visitor of a certain website.

Google AdWords

Our website uses Google Conversion Tracking. If you have reached our website via a Google ad, a cookie will be set on your computer by Google Adwords. The cookie for conversion tracking is set when a user clicks on an ad placed by Google. These cookies will expire after 30 days and they are not used to identify you personally. If the user visits certain pages of our website and if the cookie has not expired yet, we and Google can detect that the user has clicked on the ad and has been redirected to our page. Each Google AdWords customer receives a different cookie Cookies can consequently not be traced via the websites of AdWords customers. The information gathered by means of the conversion cookies is used to create conversion statistics for AdWords customers, which have decided to use conversion tracking. The customers find out the total number of users, who have clicked on their ad and have been redirected to a page that has a conversion tracking tag. However, they do not obtain any information by which the user can be personally identified.

If you do not wish to participate in tracking, you can reject the setting of the required cookie for this – for example, via the browser setting that generally deactivates the automatic setting of cookies or by adjusting your browser setting, so that cookies from the “googleleadservices.com” domain are blocked.

Please notice that you must not delete the opt-out cookies for as long as you do not wish any measuring data to be recorded. If you have deleted all of your cookies from the browser, you have to reset the relevant opt-out cookie.
